Going on holiday when eating disorder recovery is still part of family life can be complicated. There’s the planning, the food, the tension about how everyone will cope away from home. You want rest, but also safety. Space, but also rhythm and structure.
That’s what the Family Holiday offers.
A nature-based stay designed for families who are past the crisis, yet still learning how to breathe and be together again. Days here are simple: caring for the animals, eating outdoors, exploring the forest, reading by the fire. You don’t have to pretend everything’s perfect. You just need to show up, be open, and let the land, rhythm, and quiet do part of the work.
I’ve walked with many families through recovery. I know how much energy it takes, how much love and fear live side by side. The Big Fields was created as a soft landing, not therapy, but a safe rhythm that reminds your body what ease feels like.
It’s not about fixing anything. It’s about rediscovering the small things that make being a family feel natural again.
This isn’t a clinic, but it’s not a holiday park either. There’s no program to follow, no performance to keep up, just space. To rest. To reconnect. To breathe again.
To be a family, without everything revolving around the eating disorder, but without pretending it never existed.
The Family Reset Holiday is a small-scale, personal stay for families who’ve come through the hardest parts of recovery and are finding their rhythm again. It’s a calm, nature-based environment with gentle structure and real care. A place where you can lean back, knowing you don’t have to manage everything alone.
We host only one family at a time (occasionally two, if the fit is right), so each stay can move at your own pace. The focus is never only on “the one who’s struggling.” Parents, siblings, and relationships all get space to breathe and reconnect.
We believe reconnecting and relaxing happens in calm, natural places. In fresh air and quiet mornings. On a small farm with animals, views, and room to breathe. A place that feels safe, simple, and real.
You don’t have to explain everything. We understand the terrain you’ve walked, and we are building a place where you can finally rest your shoulders.
Every family is different – so your stay at The Big Fields is shaped around you. But here’s what a typical rhythm might look like:
Wake up without rush. Enjoy the breakfast buffet together. Step outside. Breathe. Join in on the morning tasks on the farm, taking care of the chicken, feeding the horses, or watering the garden. These are optional but often bring calm and connection for the kids while you start your morning on your own, or join in and also get some vitamine Farm!
Before your stay, we’ll explore together what kind of support feels right for your family. For example: daily breakfast buffets, or join a shared dinner with fresh veggies and fruits from our garden, or cook yourself (partly) in the kitchenette in the gite.
Go on a family walk, swim in the lake, read a book in the sun, try a yoga session, or take a well-deserved nap.
Parents can work remotely – we have a quiet office space with fast internet.
Want to reconnect with your partner or just be alone for a while? That’s possible too. We can spend time with your children through farm tasks, creative projects, and animal care.
Think campfire nights, movie evenings, stargazing, game nights or just quiet time together. No pressure. Just space to be.
If it feels supportive, you can add an equine session, parent coaching, or a gentle family reflection hour.
These are completely optional, and meant to help integrate, not to fix.
If you’re already working with a therapist, we’re happy to coordinate so everything stays aligned and safe.
Throughout the week, we offer light, nourishing activities you can join if it feels good. Think horse riding lessons, forest walks, yoga at the lake, creative sessions, or helping out with a farm project. We’re happy to organise activities for you, on the farm or nearby. Whether it’s an adventure farm or museum visit, a massage, or a guided hike, we’ll help you shape the week in a way that feels good.
Still unsure? We understand, you want to do right for your family, but you don’t have to decide alone.
We always start with a video call to get to know each other, talk through your needs, and decide together if this is the right fit. We co-create this experience together!
You can choose from two options for your stay:
Bring your own tent, caravan, or camper
Stay with your family in one of our gîtes on the property
Our gîtes are simple, warm, and designed for rest. You’ll have your own bedrooms, a shared bathroom, and a cozy living area with a kitchenette and dining space.
With both options, you’ll have access to:
🏡 A shared common area
🧘 Our yoga and movement space (2026)
🌲 Private access to the garden, lake, and forest trails
🧑💻 A co-working space with fast Wi-Fi (for remote work or just a quiet moment alone)
There’s space to be together – and space to be alone.
And always the option to join in the rhythm of the farm: feeding animals, collecting eggs, watering the garden, or simply sitting in the sun with a cold drink.
Before your arrival, we’ll have a short conversation to understand your needs and make sure everything is in place for your stay.

We’re currently opening a limited number of pilot stays – a chance to co-create this experience with us as we shape it for the families we hope to keep welcoming in the future.

Yes. Whether you’re bringing one child or the whole family, we’ll shape the experience around your needs. Siblings are welcome and will be included in activities, support, and fun.
Yes, that’s possible. Sometimes a one-on-one holiday is exactly what’s needed. Let us know what you’re hoping for, and we’ll talk it through.
That’s completely okay. We always start with a conversation, no pressure, no commitment. We’ll explore together whether this feels like the right fit, and when. The most important is that you and your child feel like this is really something they would like to do and experience.
This is not a clinic or treatment program. Our focus is on relaxtion, grounding and rest. That said, optional therapeutic sessions (equine therapy, parent coaching, etc.) can be added.
We eat mostly vegetarian, using produce from our garden when possible. We’ll talk through food preferences, allergies, and any current challenges beforehand. You’ll always be part of shaping the food plan.
Dutch and English
Yes! If your dog is well-behaved, non-aggressive, and comfortable around farm animals and other pets.
Yes. This is your time. You’ll have the space to rest, recharge, or explore as a family. If you need space for yourself, we’ll help create that too.
During your stay you will be the only family present, to ensure that we have enough time to support you and the atmosphere is calm and safe. We don’t host other stays at the same time.
Your question not here? Drop us a message or schedule a get-to-know call!
You don’t have to figure this out alone. Planning a holiday can feel like a lot when recovery is part of family life, we understand that.
That’s why we start simple: a short, free video call.
No pressure, no commitment, just a conversation to get to know each other, talk through what your family needs, and see together if The Big Fields is the right place for you right now.
